An interesting feature in the Vern Riffe Center that many visitors don’t get an opportunity to see is the Virtual Reality Listening Room on the second floor.
The room is designed by building architect George Izenour to replicate the experience of hearing music in a concert hall. Speakers mounted high on the walls near the ceiling are focused at the granite table in center of the room. The walls and other elements in the room are angled to allow the sound to fill the room.
The room is based off one in Izenour’s house and is one of few such rooms designed by him functioning in the country.
